How Arcos works

We supply Arcos pre-loaded on its own server (or, for simple applications, installed on our own server in your own private area). We then connect to your database (or a copy if you prefer) and run an installation script which tells Arcos all it needs to know about the structure of your database, table and field names, primary and foreign keys, table joins etc. You do not have to worry about database connectivity, ODBC drivers etc – we deal with that.

To build a report you click on an icon on your desktop, which takes you to the report builder screen. With a few clicks of a mouse you can quickly select tables and fields; an easy to use configuration screen allows you to change the order in which fields display, alter their captions, define the data etc. Note that there is no need to worry about table joins, SQL etc – all that is taken care of automatically.

When all is complete, the report is saved on the server. Users can view the menu of reports in an Internet browser. They select the required report and define the search criteria. Note, this is all done at run time, so users have complete flexibility over what data is included in the report. Results can be viewed on screen, downloaded as a CSV or printed. There is full security, with users restricted by password control; users are assigned to groups which each have their own privileges. At no stage is any software installed on a PC. Everything is done by means of an Internet browser which connects to the Arcos server. And there is generally no restriction on the number of users.
